Election Process + Procedures

Elections of Executive Committee officers (President, First Vice President for Collective Bargaining, Second Vice President for Grievances, Secretary, and Treasurer) and Elected Representatives conducted are by secret ballot and are presided over by an ELECTION COMMITTEE. The Election Committee is comprised of three Active Members as elected by their peers during a voting process held in December of even numbered years. Executive Committee members and Elected Representatives are not eligible to serve as on the Election Committee. Elected officers serve a term of two years each.

Elected Representatives are a group of 5 individuals elected from AAUP active membership. Additionally, the Executive Committee may appoint up to three additional Representatives with the goal of increasing representation across all academic units of the University. Representatives establish best practices for communication and facilitate a productive sharing of information, ideas and grievances between the chapter Officers and Active Membership. In addition, they may function in an advisory role to executive committee members as necessary. One representative must be a part-time faculty member. They serve a term of two years each; incumbents are eligible for re-election.
